Founding Director

As Founding Director of Artify, Carolyn Karnovsky brings 20 years experience working in Australia’s arts and cultural sector, connecting clients with creatives, and creatives with new opportunities. Carolyn is a creative strategist, facilitator and collaborator, specialising in client visioning, curation, art masterplanning, project management and the development of strategies for community engagement and professional development.

Over the course of Carolyn’s career she has worked with some of the country’s leading arts organisations including Perth-based not for profit cultural organisation FORM (2008-2016) and UAP in Brisbane, a world-leading company specialising in the curation, design and construction of large-scale artworks for the public realm (2016-2020).

During her time at UAP Carolyn led the creative strategy for the new Queensland Police Memorial, Australia’s Pavilion for Expo 2020 in Dubai and was the Project Director for the NRMA Centenary Activation Project. She also worked with clients across the public and private sectors, including the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade, Brisbane City Council, Arts Queensland, Queensland Police Service, South Bank Development Authority, Rockhampton Regional Council, Queensland University of Technology, James Cook University, Crown Resorts, Dexus, Lend Lease, Vicinity Centres and Mirvac Retail.

Prior to joining UAP, Carolyn established FORM’s art consultancy division in 2008, managing a team of six art consultants. FORM’s public art team successfully delivered projects for Perth’s signature developments, including the new Perth Stadium, Elizabeth Quay, Perth Airport, Crown Towers, Brookfield Place, Old Treasury Buildings, St John of God Midland Hospital. From 2010 to 2016 Carolyn led the development and delivery of FORM’s Land.Mark.Art program; a public art professional development model aimed at diversifying skills and income streams for Aboriginal artists.
